Beware of the neighbors you don't know...

>> Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I was browsing through some of the picture files on our computer and came across this picture of one of our neighbors.  We have lived here for over 5 years and never knew this neighbor lived a few houses down the street.  That is until he escaped one day and stopped in front of our house.  By the way, it took him 30 minutes to get home...

Have you ever had that feeling...

Have you ever had that feeling?  You know the one where something just isn't right?  I had that feeling all day today.  I couldn't quite figure it out.  It was a great day in all aspects.  I was very productive at work despite all of the meetings with the auditors, the attorneys, and the status updates of endless projects, that seem to...never end.  I even left work early, that is if you consider 5:04 to be early.  Traffic was light not to mention it was still light outside.  That's always a mental adjustment when you're use to driving home in the dark.  I couldn't quite put my finger on that feeling... That is until I sat down and kicked up my feet...

Funny thing is...I don't remember that hole being there this morning when I put my socks on!  I wonder if I can find another pair just like them?  I like wearing socks where you can cross your eyes for a really long time and see fun things!

Where is the MAN soap?

>> Saturday, February 13, 2010

The other day we went to Costco to purchase the assortment of items we usually purchase at Costco, which among them is soap.   The big package of Dove soap we've been buying for the last 9.2 years included a new promotional bar of Dove Men+Care a new product apparently designed for men.  You've probably seen it in stores, it looks like this:

Well later that day, Weston was in the shower and all of a sudden he starts yelling...  Mom, come here....
Heidi and I walked in to see what he was yelling for and without hesitation he yells...
WHERE IS THE MAN SOAP?

Apparently the little man needed his soap!

The masks we wear...

>> Friday, February 5, 2010

Poetry is clearly not my forte'...
however I found this poem to go along with this picture...
We Wear the Mask

We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!
Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)
